I am originally from Long Beach, CA, and have spent the better part of my life surfing and bodysurfing along the shores of the Southern California coastline. After graduating from Long Beach Wilson High in 1978, I pursued a career as an electrician in the IBEW Local 11 - Los Angeles. In the early through mid-90's, I expanded my entrepreneurial horizons and ran a small graphics arts studio and partnered in the operation of an industrial hemp/organic clothing retail store. Even though I have been experimenting with photography as a hobbyist throughout most of my adult life, it wasn't until early 2004 when I started shooting photos of the surf before or after paddling out, that it turned into a passion that was generating as much stoke as surfing itself (well, almost). I currently split my time between shooting and performing the duties of an electrical building inspector. Credit for the concept of the mythical character Awe F'shore is respectfully given to Drew Kampion, who created him in the story "The Long-Ago Tale of the Unending Wave," published in the Dec./Jan. (’74/’75) issue of SURFING magazine. Awe F'shore made another appearance in "A Long-Ago Tale of the Birth of Mystic Eye" in 1975. I was pretty stoked by these stories of surf loving costal nomads from a time long ago and I eventually adopted one of the character's names, Awe F'shore, as my nickname - an especially fitting one due to my love of offshore (Awe F'shore) winds and everything surf.
